Playing makes my cat lick herself

Hi,

I adopted a female cat 3 days ago. I noticed a behaviour that seems odd. Whenever she starts playing with her toys, after a few seconds she stops and starts licking herself very fast. She licks everywhere - sides, paws. Then she runs away and hides. Lately, as soon as I show her a toy, she runs away.

It almost seems like playing causes her pain.

She was recently spayed and her stitches have been taken out. Could this be related?

I am taking her to the vet tomorrow, but would like to hear other opinions!

Thanks you.

It almost looks like playing causes her pain.

Answer #1

It might just be washing the dirt off after playing or it might be in pain from the stitches

Answer #2

maybe she is just grooming herself, unless it is a hairless place. you should probably get it checked out by its vet or just gently touch where you have been noticing it has been licking. if it jumps or tries to get away, go to the vets office.
