why does my cat lick my hand and then bite it?

My cat will sometimes get close to me for me to pet her but when i do after a while she will start licking my hand and then biting it. Is she angry cause she wanted me to stop petting her or something?

I have heard a couple things about that, some said cats only bite you when they like you and have also they do it when they are angry and want you to stop

My old cat would do this (except with my face and head!) From what i have observed, it is basically his way of showing he loves you/cares about you. When cats interact with another cat they trust/love, they will bathe each other. This originates from what they learn at birth from their mother, and is essentially another tendency like kneading their paws. All your cat is trying to tell you is that he loves and cares for you! (On a side note, if you wear lotion on your hands that has a smell, he might just like how it tastes!)
