Why do people judge pitbull terriers?

why do people judge pitbull terriors? because of what their owners train them to be??

Answer #1

I posted this answer on another question about pit bulls it still all boils down to people being stupid and ingnorant and not educating themselves and others!

Why are people racist or predjudice againist pit bulls? One answer only IGNORANCE and stupidity!!! Just like with any other racisim or predjudice. Oh and somebody said something about jaw power thing… that is all total LIES and once again ignorance and stupidity. Do your research it is NOT 1200 pounds of pressure, more like 300 MAX I believe was actually documented in a study. All the same with all the ignornace and stupidity… Along those lines too: No canine has a locking jaw - it is a physical impossibility for dogs.

Here is more info for all the ignornant, racist, predjudice people out there: 440,000 people are killed by ciggeretts each year 42,366 killed by cars 35,000 killed by second hand smoke 29,338 by guns and only 3 yes THREE by pit bulls!!! Yes one is to much… but again it is NOT the dog that is the problem it is OWNERS… the statics show that OTHER types of dogs kill more people than Pits… but most ‘other’ types of dog bites, attacks or killings are NOT reported. PLUS: There are 25+ breeds that are commonly wrongly identified as pit bulls! THE REAL REASON FOR THE BAD RAP FOR PIT BULLS IS IGNORANCE AND STUPIDITY!

Answer #2

I am getting really annoyed with these dumb small minded people talking bad about pitbull terriers. I have owned a red devil pitbull for 14 years and I also have two of her puppies from birth. Firstly, there is no such thing as a mechanism which enables them to lock their jaw it is a myth. Next thing is they are the same as humans. If you breed ANY ANIMAL or human to be violent, then they will indeed be violent. My dogs have grown up with love and affection and their only goal is to look after my children and please me at every opportunity. Naturally these dogs wil excell at any task given to them which unfortunately includes fighting. The dogs that attack humans you can guarantee have been either bred for fighting or have been ill treated. The police are quick to ban pitbulls but why not man dobermanns who have a history of more murders than pits? Any why have they not done post mortems on pits? This would prove they are born with perfectly normal brains and do not have some fantasy cells which would make them any more tempremental than any other dog. Also I would like to make a comment on the recent death of a young girl in England. HER UNCLE WAS INVOLVED IN DOG FIGHTING!!! He was purposely breeding dogs and keeping dogs for dog fighting!!! So how do you think those dogs were kept? I will tell you, he was probably kept in a dark cupboard most of the day and tossed raw meat. Beated with metal rods at every opportunity, sliced with a knife to get him used to pain tied to a treatmill for hours on end and beaten if he tried to sit, trained with a sleeve that fits on a persons arm and told to totally tear it apart or get beaten, starved for days to encourage anger, tell me, how would you react to humans if you had an opportunity to be around a weak one for a second if you were treated this way? WAKE UP PEOPLE and do some research!!! Oh and just for the record, my neighbours son would be dead today if it were not for my dog who jumped in the sea to drag him out, its funny when I wrote to the papers about it they didnt want to know. The police need to take some responsibility and instead of destroying loving pets, go after the breeders that breed for fighting dogs, go after the organisers of dog fights and go after the owners that abuse their animals. But no its far easier for you to say its due to the animals nature huh!!

Answer #3

okay thats a really good question, uh I don’t know why people judge them they are my favorite breed and im 13 I want one sooo bad but my dog was attacked by other dogs before we got her as a puppy so shes a little dog aggressive. and my friend paula, has 3 pitbulls that are sooo sweeet and innocennt

Answer #4

A bologna and antifreeze sandwich!!! That is cruelty to animals! Just keep your kids away from the dogs. I know there are cruel ones out there, and I stay away from them too but it isn’t their fault. And that is just about the most horrible thing I have heard..bologna and antifreeze sandwich…

Answer #5

Magictink, that dog is sooo adorable!! And you have a point! I have a boxer, not a pittbull. Boxers actually have a rep of being loving and energetic family dogs. But there are bad ones out there anyway. And they too have strong jaws and sharp teeth.

Answer #6

I have nothing against pitbulls. I personally don’t own one but I don’t have a problem with any. I have a problem when a person trains a pittbull to be violent. It’s all in the training. I also think a lot of people who train their pittbull to be violent are just cruel and they don’t have the patience to train the dog into a nice personable dog. I think they’re great and they just a have a bad rep but it isn’t their fault.

The media does not help this situation. When a couple of dogs attack a family, if it’s a pit bull, they are sure to include that fact, but if it’s another breed, there is never any mention of the breed. What about Mastiffs? Great Danes ? Rotweilers? You never hear bad press about those dogs. The last dog bite I saw in the ER where I work was from a poodle ! I just call mine an “American Staffordshire Terrier” (the correct breed name) when people say “awww what a sweet cute doggie”, the other negative name needs to be put by the wayside as antiquated and inappropriate for most of them. Any dog that attacks humans should be put down. Meanwhile, keep and love your pit bull terrier-they are one of the smartest, most sensitive, loving and loyal breeds out there–they just need owners who are sensitive to their needs ( they need lots of athletic endeavors) and fears (yes, they get nervous around new things, and may react unpredictably until they are desensitized). They perform outstandingly if treated with love and care. I would not trade mine for any other dog.

I think its ok to tell your kids to stay away from strange dogs, but I agree with Magictink that you shouldnt unjustly take a dogs life, just because it accidently got loose, if it is a regular occuring thing than you should try to find the owner, or at least call a dog warden or a shelter. You have no right to take a dogs life basically because of the steryotypical pitbulls that were trained to fight. You shouldnt judge a dog because of how a few dogs that were brought up wrong acted, that would be like saying that all people are so stupid that they hold their hot coffee from mc donalds with their crotch and spill it. Or how fireworks say ‘do not put in mouth’ if it didnt say that, would you go I wonder what that would do? I dont think your that stupid, so just because a few dogs do something bad doesnt mean you should damn the whole race. OMFG I hate how people do that. HFS. thank you VERY much

Answer #11

how horrible are you? if you take the time to look at any dog they all have big teeth and strong jaws, because like you said they are animals! are you telling me that if you saw a lab or a jack russel walking the streets without an owner you wouldnt mind your kids playing near them becaus they are “placid” dogs? well I can tell you something! if any dog is trained to be a fighter then no matter what kind of dog it is, your children are in possible danger… I have a pitbull cross staffidshore bull terrior, can you imagine what kind of damage that kind of cross breeding could do? well look at her does she look like she is a danger 2 your kids? she is soppy as anything and loved to play with my 2-3 year old cousin! just because people like to train them to fight doesnt mean the WHOLE breed is dangerous! its small minded people like geekster that try and get laws passe to have all pitbull, and pitbull crosses put down!

Answer #12

what are you on? what if the dog escapes.. I mean it does happen.. you have no right to take authority into your own hands, stay away from the dog, take a defensive approach instead of a careless neandertholic agressive stance. I’m not for animals and anti humans, I have common sense and if the situation can be avoided why not take that route? by approching a dog you become the agressive one if it was my dog id hunt you down and do the same to you as you did to my dog, as it seems you have no morals and cannot seem to let common sense provail. bet you were a bully at school always finding a way to aggravate a situation which neither needed nor warranted your attention. I think you are just one of those sad people who loves to be noticed surely to be so cruel and to take the time to be so cruel you do it for some kind of kick, if not why not take the easier and safer option and STAY AWAY!!! T.I.T

Answer #13

I’ve seen some really cute pitbull puppies, but unfortunately, due to all the press about them, I know I would never get one “just in case” something happened. I usually ere on the side of caution.

Answer #14

I’m not a complete fool. I know a vicious animal when I see it. I actually like animals. Feed them any chance I get. No, Not antifreeze. I’m talking about dogs trained by their owners to be vicious, then they don’t take the proper steps to keep it confined. I train my kids to beware of dogs, until we know it’s ok. All I’m saying is people better keep tabs on their vicious dogs in my neighborhood before they find it throwing up with a severe case of the chills.

Answer #15

Oddly, no one has mentioned the fact that ‘dog-fighters’ sometimes selectively breed aggressive dogs together to create ‘good fighters’. It’s a real shame that the most ‘powerfully-endowed’ breeds (pit-bulls/ staffies etc) are the ones generally chosen for this cruel and misguided practice.

Answer #16

And I’d rather be cruel to an animal than say my last goodbye to my kid in a box. And it’s not so reasonable to say keep your kids away from the dog, when dogs who attack also attack kids who were no doing nothing but minding their own business. I’ve seen too many cases of kids being attacked. You should hope your dads are as protective as I am.

Answer #17

I don’t have anything against Pitbulls. but I guess some do thanks to Mike Vick and all that pit bull fights these days, mostly if your getting one from the SPCA because most around PA where I live are taken from fighting. But I don’t have anything against them I think there adorable.

Answer #18

WhatEver!!! I say what I mean and I mean what I say. If they deeply love it they would keep it put up, and out of harms way. Are you one of those who protect animals on one hand, but think murder of an innocent child in abortion is OK? Just wondering. I’ve noticed many who cry over animal rights are proned to hire hit men to kill their child.

Answer #19

you have no right to take action with no cause! if the dog has done nothing then the dog is as innocent as your children, and you dont have the authority to make the decision of wether a life is taken whether is be an animal or a human… what you said in your first post to this question was an I quote “If I ever see one roaming the neighborhood because their owners are too irresponsible to keep them nicely tucked away, I’ll find a way to feed it a nice bologna and antifreeze sandwich. I have small kids to protect.”.. if you did anything to any dog that is deeply loved by its family without just cause you could be in serious trouble!!!

Answer #20

I love all dogs, but pitbulls do have a really bad rep. I would be pretty scared if I saw one that wasn’t on a leash to be honest, but this is because of all the stories I hear of normal families owning a pitbull that attacks another person or dog - and not just injuring them but killing them. I know there are really sweet ones out there though.

Answer #21

I have a cocker spaniel and a pit bull and my cocker spaniel is more vicous than my pitbull. its the trainers not the dog. my pit bull is anything but mean. its the sweetest dog I’ve ever met. His name is clifford:] and for my cockerspaniel the only reason its getting snippy is old age. Shes still really sweet too. Just more grouchy. I think that judgeing pitbulls is stupid. I do not agree with training them to fight each other eaither it sh ould be agenst animal cruelty laws.

Answer #22

It’s not bad to say keep your kids away from a dog. I never said that. But you don’t need to speak so cruelly.

Answer #23

If the trainers train them to be the vicious animals they’re capable of they better keep them on lock-down. If I ever see one roaming the neighborhood because their owners are too irresponsible to keep them nicely tucked away, I’ll find a way to feed it a nice bologna and antifreeze sandwich. I have small kids to protect. I don’t like or trust Any dog with big teeth and strong jaws. Who knows whats on their mind. They’re Animals.

Answer #24
