yes the two breeds are related but there also is a third dog that is related to the pit bull. here are the three. there is the american pit bull terrier, the american staffordshire terrier, and the staffordshire bull terrier. all these dogs can be dangerous and vicous, but they are not born that way. these dogs are all loving and good dogs that are as smart as any german shepherd and will love their own to their death. these dogs are not born vicious monsters, they are made that way by foolish poeple who decide they want a tough dog. soon they get a dog that they can’t even control. now the government of the united states is trying to ban all of these breeds. they wont these three breeds to be extinct.

Not only are they related but, if you have a pure bred pitbull you can actually cross register them as a Staffordshire Terrier.

And not, pitbulls are not the strongest or most vicious. They get this rep because of bad breeders and dog fighters that like the breed to fight. If a pitbull or stafforshire terrier is raised with love and kindness they will turn out as wonderful loving pets.
