Answer #4

find where it stemmed from first…

and most people have some degree of fear… some people love little dogs but are terrified of big dogs..

and dogs are like people, they’re all different.. so to overcome a fear with one dogs won’t mean you’re ‘cured’ just start of with a friends dog who you know is friendly and won’t bound up to you .. and old dog, who’s chilled out and likes people would be a good start… just ‘wean’ yourself onto them

x good luck

I suggest that you first start off with a mellow dog. A dog that will set on your lap all day long and will not run around the house like crazy.

If you developed a fear of dogs from something that happened to you in the past you need to face it. You should not let that stop you from having one of the worlds best companions.

I wish you all the luck in the world.

Well, my nephews were scared of my small little chihuahua pub and I thought that was kind of understandable since they were little, now they got over their fear naturally and with some help from me. I use to make them touch the dog from the back instead of the front, because I thought that’s what they were scared of getting bit. So I let them pet him from behind, then I told them to go around front and let him sniff your hand of course this was not done in a one day process but they eventually became friends with Maverick and have been relaxed ever since.

1.) Start with small dogs, that are family friendly. Don’t try to pet it right off the bat, let them sniff your hand. Visit them often so they can get use to your scent. Once they seem relax try petting them if not in one day. Try again the next

2.) Try playing with the dog, feeding the dogs treats.

3.) Don’t show fear stand your ground.
