Hang in there while we get back on track
Out of my depth
Okay so I have an alaskan malamute hes a boy and his name is max. Well we used to have a lab but he got stolen and we had him as a playmate for max and to bark at strangers because my malamute is too friendly and he cant bark and I dont want anyone to steal him well anyways I work at a store and there I meet a man who said he had a dog that he couldnt keep so we made arrangements to go see and maybe pick her up. Well when we first went to get her she was very shy and kept running and hiding he said she did this because she was unused to strangers. So we got her we’ve had her for about 2 weeks now and she always runs away from us she wont let anyone near her and whats worst is she stays in the back of the house and now so does my malamute. I dont know what to do about it another thing is the man claimed she was spayed and well my dog’s been mounting her so she could be pregnant does anyone have any advice on what I should do and the man who I got her from his phone is no longer in service please any advice would help!!
ya, you let her do that, and now, she thinks its OK, when its not, once you coax her out, put a dog fence in the way, so she can’t go back. you want her to get used to the main areas, but she does need her privacy, so I would get a large dog kennel, put in some blankets and always leave the door to it open. she also might be stressed so get some bones for her to chew on and maybe some other toys.
thanks for the advice I have been coaxing her out with food and she comes to get it but quickly takes off afterwords o and well she was bleeding when she a my malamute got stuck
Unless they tie, then there’d be no pregnancy. Mounting is also a show of dominance.
Why not start letting her drag a leash behind her…then coaxing her out into the main rooms of the house with treats?? Letting her stay in the back of the house is reenforcing the behavior. You don’t have to keep her out in the main rooms all the time, just coax her 3 or 4 times a day…till she desensitizes to being there.
