I found something on a website that says, “The parents of an unemancipated minor have the custody and control of such minor. This means that the parents can legally decide where the minor lives until the minor reaches the age of 18 or otherwise becomes emancipated.” So basically, you need to get emancipated BEFORE you leave in most states, because if you do not, you will not have a good chance of being emancipated AFTER you have already tried to move out and the cops have brought you back home, then you will just have to ride it out until you are 18. From what I’ve seen, it varies by state, so you could go to yahoo and type “legal age to move out in (your state)” and a ton of stuff should pop up. In Mossouri, it says that you are considered an adult when you are 17, and can move out without any problems, so you may live in one of those states.

they can take you back home, if the home situation is undesirable and you are ready to marry…then you can marry in a state where it is legal etc…then live with the new hubby…but mind you this is not the best course of action in my opinion.

I live in Canada and the rule is that you can legally move out of your house at age 16 but if you do not tell your mother that your leaveing and you just run away then the police have every right to look for you because you become a missing person after 48 hours. I left home at 17 for my boyfriend and let me tell you that the easyest way and the love blinded way is not always the best way. You should talk to your parents about it and explain your self try to come to a term of agreement or something. Liveing on your own is a much more difficult thing then you may realize.

Ok well as I have no idea where you live I will give you what I know about england. In england if your parents give consent then you can move out at 16 however, if they don’t then you can’t move out until 18. The police can’t do anything to you. Basically all they have the power to do, is if you parents report you as a missing person they will put this out on the news and will come and find you and will make you go back to your mum. If you do live in england and can’t get your parents consent try to either make their life a living hell so they want you to move out or just sit down with them and your boyfriend and you two need to explain how it means so much to you. Hope this helped and wasn’t bad news x
