My BMI

Ok so my BMI is 22. Is that to much? Because I read this thing that over 25 is overweight, and 22 is pretty close. I eat pretty healthy, play soccer and I´m a cheerleader. So how come it´s so close to 25?I don´t get it.

there are many sites online that can help you figure out if you are at a healthy weight - the mayo clinic is a very trustworthy source that has a bmi calculator for children (ages 2-18) which (considering that you say you are a cheerleader) might be a more accurate way for you to determine if you are at a healthy weight

Every person has a different weight that is healthy for them - don’t get too caught up in the numbers. If you are really concerned about your risk of obesity in the future - the site I work for has a guide with lots of resources about prevention and risk factors. however, your best bet is always to check with your doctor about your health.

BMI is totally inacurate!!! If you look BMI up on the internet to where it originated from you will see that some guy in the 16th/17th century calculated the formula to figure out your BMI (which is (height(in) times height (in)) divided by weight (lbs) times 703) and it originially wasn’t even supposed label your fat mass in the body. You have the exact same BMI as I do and I’m no where near overweight. Everyone carries weight differently based on genes (your parents/family) and if you think about it muscle weighs more than fat…so if you are very athletic (which it sounds like you are) and in shape that throws that BMI out in the dark.
