How to get our Yorkie a good new home?

I have a yorkshire terrier he is a little over 1yr and I need to let him go because my baby has chronic asthma. What should we do? Should we sell him, give him up for adoption? I really want our dog to be in a happy and safe environment that he can call home. He is ckc certified.

Yes you could advertise him in a newsletter around your area. If he goes to a really good home I would just give him to them. Getting your money back doesnt mean as much as finding him a good home.

Answer #2

Always put a value to your dog. If you don’t he won’t go to a good home. Yorkies are still very popular and he is still young. I would check the paper and see what Yorkies are going for and go down a little from amount. Interview the people that are looking at him make sure he is going to the right home.

I would also say a prayer for him and make sure he finds the right home

You can try and sell him…course dogs are a dime a dozen out there, so you aren’t going to recoop any of yours costs, but putting a price on him, helps ensure that he gets a good home…doesn’t guarentee it, but it helps.

If it were me…I’d advertise him for a reasonable price…say $50 or $75…and if the “perfect person” came thru the door, I’d bend over backwards to make sure this is where he’d go…since my main object would be a good home, not simply someone who had the bucks…

There are also breed specific and “pure-bred” rescues. There’s always a demand for these little dogs…and the rescues really do screen new owners…another option.

Sorry you have to rehome, him.
