Leg Cramps ?

I woke up 2 days ago at about 5:00 am. When I moved my legs, suddenly horrible cramping kicked into the lower calves. I almost screamed it hurt so bad and couldn’t move. After about a minute the pain stopped, and I dared moved my legs again, same pain horrible. Third time I tried I had no pain. When I reawoke and got up, I felt a dull sore pain in the lower calves. I still have this 2 days later with no signs of it getting lighter. What the heck is wrong with me? I’m not old, I’m only 15. Didn’t do any strenuous(sp?) exercise night before or anything.

Answer #1

Low calcium will also cause leg cramps. I take a Tums extra strength every day and that works. It also could be low potassium. It is not how much potassium or calcium you take in, it is how your body metabolizes it.

Answer #2

You might need more potassium than banana’s provide…(I don’t know how you stayed in bed with a charlie horse)…I get up…pace and drink water at the same time…I’ve heard also, that quinine water will stop them…

One thing about them, they are harmless.

Charlie Hoarse…You’re getting them because you don’t have enough potasiam in your body. I sugest eating bananas and drink lots of water. -I get them all the time, they hurt like a betch.

Answer #4

Okay. Thanks. I eat bananas every day as well as water.. so I don’t think I am deficient in either. Hm..
