Introducing a female kitten to an adult male.

I’m buying a female kitten tomorrow and I already have an adult male cat, he is rather aggressive and dominant in attitude and I’m wondering how he will react to this kitten. How do I introduce them without him hurting her?

Well… I had to do this about a year ago, same situation. Bringing home a female cat to be introduced to the male cat. We had to keep them seperated, or allow them to see eachother through a window, or screen, or gate or something. Don’t let them come into physical contact right away. The female will be scared, and the male will be pissed.

Allow them to get to know eachother by playing “paws” underneath a door first, We kept interchanging rooms. Let the new cat stay in a room for a little while (you have to manage a way to keep them both company, usually good to do with a friend for a while) and let their scent stick to things around that room. Make sure you give them separate food and water dishes, as they probably won’t want to share at first.

After about an hour or so, switch cats into the new rooms. Let the new cat get used to the old items and where they were, with a new cat scent on them.

It will be tough for the first couple weeks, but it’s possible. Eventually the male will become accepting. Just keep a close eye on them. Keep in mind they’re both going to be scared, so if you hear hissing or anything, don’t discipline the cats, they’re both scared, they don’t need a swat to top it off. Just clap your hands or something to spook them both. In my case, my male cat would corner the female and not let her out.. we had to scare him out and “save” her.

Just keep an eye on them, it should be okay.

Good luck.

On the other hand: a friend of mine just brought home another cat and introduced them right away. The cats hated eachother, but eventually got used to eachother. Seems more dangerous-ish, but it still worked.

Well my cat I indroduced him to a kitten and he doensn’t take it so well idont no if your a male but males seem more concieded more than females so you should introuduce them slowly and let them play together time at time and make them share everything so they get used to it hope this helps

                  THANKS!bye!
