To: Eleni. What an outrageous opinion. That’s why we live in a world that we do! God is almighty and you will have a lot to explain when you meet Him. Just because humans can’t explain things doesn’t mean we have to come down on Him. Only He knows the purpose of suffering. Man creates his own problems don’t forget.

Ok, I’ve read some of the answers here & I’m not quite sure I agree entirely with any of them. First off, the question is “If Jesus loves all the children, why are some homeless?”. The answers that we see blaming God or government don’t answer what was asked. The fact that people don’t believe in the Christian God should not be argued here, it is their right to believe in any religion they want. To be literal about it, as the song goes,,,Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world - that’s ALL it says. The word, as Christ preached it, is that He does love them all, it doesn’t say He is going to do anything about conditions. That may be a bit crass to some, but it’s the truth. As Christians & many other religions, we are taught to take care of our brothers & sisters. But there are some brothers & sisters that reject the help, or are not permitted to accept the help, that goes for homeless children too. They could be in a circumstance that doesn’t get them help. So indeed the fault lies with mankind. ALL mankind. If you believe in a God, he gives us the intelligence to do things, the compassion & stamina to make things happen, he gives us all & we are to share it with each other. But, in steps another factor, freedom of choice, some people choose not to help or do or apply. God also gave us that.

Answer #3

God gives us free will. He gives us the power to make our own lives… We put ourselves in these positions. Not him. Don’t go blaming things on God because of our mistakes.

if we didn’t have free will we would all be walking around like perfect little robots. and life would pointless.

Answer #4

Well, God has given every human being a conscience and the ability to think. In addition, to those who follow him, he has given the Holy Spirit to give us a ‘push’ in the right direction when our conscience and our thinking fail us.

What I mean is that these children are starving because people in their own countries (governments, war lords) and people in our countries (governments, companies, and you and me too), don’t see the starving kids through God’s eyes. If we did, they wouldn’t be starving.

So the my basic answer is that Jesus does love them, but we don’t.

But before you tell me how depressing that is, look at the One Campaign website and find out how lots of people really are showing that they care about these kids, like you do. It has things you can do to show the people in charge of our world how much we care. And when we tell those guys, they listen, and things truly do get better!

Answer #5

Hi eleni, like you I find the ‘God has a reason we can’t understand’ line of thinking very frustrating. But I don’t see it as a reason to despise God - after all, it’s individuals who suggest it, not God. I think that the Christian church has been guilty, at least in parts, of accepting bad situations as though they must stay that way. The hideous ‘lost verse’ of the hymn ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ is an example of this way of thinking. It goes:

‘The rich man at his castle, The poor man at his gate. God made them each and every one And ordered their estate.’

Obviously, that one’s been dropped these days, thank goodness. But I think that, from my three answers and some of the others, you can see that there is also a strong line of Christian thought that sees humans as failing each other, and God, when injustice occurs.

I think that’s why I work for Fair Trade, global justice, ecological balance etc - as a Christian I can not only see what’s wrong with the world, but also have the hope and the faith that something can and should be done about it. Others do the same with different motivation, of course, and together, as people of any faith or none, I believe we are doing what God wants.

Jesus said, The poor, you will always have with you. There are many reasons for this, and there are many attempts at solving it also. Our own country gives billions of dollars each year in foreign aid, but, we still have the problem. What exactly is the answer, or is there one? Christian relief groups continue to go to areas where hunger is, doing all they can to alleivate the suffering.

When God made the world, he gave it over to mankind to care for. I personally do not believe that God intervenes in any of our circumstances, unless we ask him to. Many of these nations do not know or believe in God, so, how can they call on him? I believe that change comes when one invites Christ into their hearts to live, and then calls on him in prayer to move the mountains of obstacles out of the way, that prevent one from living in decent accomadations, and having adequate food to eat.

We that know God as our savior, can and should pray for help for the countries that are still in trouble, however, each year, new disasters befall many, bringing a new wave of need. One thing that we could do, is to put together an org. that collects everything that is wasted in the West… saving it and salvaging it from the dumps, to use to help others. Much of what we waste, could be re-used to help someone, and I think it is high time that we truly begin to think that way. Much is given to non profits, but, much is still wasted. Please, if you do nothing else, think of what you as one person can do, to help someone else in need, and look around to see what you can salvage, that would be a blessing to someone. We may be only one person, but, with each of us doing what one can do, will make a difference. Many Blessings…

Answer #7

I am deeply troubled by the attempts to absolve God of responsibility or else say that he makes people suffer for some abstract purpose. I’m also disturbed that so many would simply accept the question of human suffering as one that has no answer and, therefore, no human solution.

If such a god exists, he is unworthy of my love and adoration as his morality is far inferior to my own.

Answer #8

with out suffering there would be no compassion.

Answer #9

He send those kids to suffer for a reason. And no one can explain.Maybe because he want those kids to experience and learn.Eg.a child who is really skinny in Africa. Then the child will know how precious food is and wont waste food.^^

Answer #10

I think it’s outrageous to give your god a free pass on the deepest questions and problems known to man. I think it’s equally irresponsible to give your god credit when something is unknown. If something wonderful happens, god did it. If something bad happens, man did it. If nobody knows the answer, it doesn’t matter because god does. What a cop out! All this does is absolve both god and the believers of any real responsibility to identify and fix the problem.

And the fact that we would use such excuses to allow suffering to continue is, my friend, truly outrageous.

Answer #11

I cant say that I agree I have been homeless before and I cant say it made me appriciate anything any more than I did before. Thing happen people react and cause chain reactions if it happens to you than it is servival of the fitest I know this sounds cold and it is not that I dont feel for those over there it is just you can only do what you can do and there is not much point in worring if you cant do anything about, however if you get the chance and can do something go for it

Answer #12

You shouldn’t ask where God is, but where God’s people are

Answer #13

Unfortunately they live in a region that is not very fertile for growing farm goods like we have. They don’t have the technology or resources. It has to do with where they live. He allows us to see this because we should be reminded to help others in need. If we were all the same there wouldn’t be a challenged to better ourselves. Thank you for thinking of them. You may bring about a movement of caring and doing something rather than talking about it.

Answer #14

Mother Theresa, who gave her whole life to help homeless people in India, said:

‘Christ has no body now on earth but ours; no hands but ours; no feet but ours. Ours are the eyes through which His love looks out on the world. Ours are the feet on which He goes about doing good. Ours are the hands with which He blesses people now.’

And that’s why she actually did something to help people, instead of sitting around and worrying about it, I guess.

Answer #15

everything happens for a reason… God doesnt always need to give these reasons…

Answer #16

He does it because he want’s to see if his people love him enough to go help the homeless; the loveless; etc..

Answer #17
