I want to move out when I am 16

I want to move out, when I am 16…I am 13 now, and dont know how long the process is to get everything done. Me and my friend both want to move out. We will have around 1600 coming in every month from Social Security, and we both plan on getting jobs. We live in illinois. We both live with our moms. Umm…if you need more info or have questions, just say so, and I will add on to this.

Answer #1

have to be 17,and even then.both of you have to have a parents co-signing,wherever you live.& if you don’t they’ll consider it “running away”.

Answer #2

yea, you have to either have permission form your parents, or get emancipated. I asked my mom if I could move out when Im 17, and she was ok with it. She just said it was ok as long as you have the money. Make sure you ahve enough money to support yourself:)

Answer #3

They only grant emancipation if it is in the best interestsof the child. So if your mother isnt taking care of you (although you’d most likely end up in foster care if that was true)… Call up legal aid and talk to them about it.

Answer #4

at the age of 16 you should be more worried about education than getting away from yuour family - the more qualifycations you get now the less ghard youre going to have to work later, if you hold fire for two years yoll be able to get a better job and it will be easier to keep a flat/apartment with your friend

Answer #5

Emancipation.

I’m not going to sit here and explain the concept and general idea, so your going to have to look it up. Smart people use google.

If your really interested, research Emancipation. If your mom(and dad? I’m not enlightened on the custody arrangements) agrees to it, it is fully possible. Read more.

Answer #6

Yes, well, my mom, my dad doesnt live with us, he lives 15 minutes away, and I dont want to live with him, because I dont want to leave my friends

Answer #7

Correcting myself, it depends what state you live in. I was speaking of my personal experience with the laws of Emancipation. I live in New York, and once you are 16 and a parent signs &+ does all the paperwork, and in some cases it has to be taken to court, then you are free to live on your own, with whomever you like.

Answer #8

You can’t move out at 16, and also you dont realize it but your lucky..

Answer #9
