How do I tell them I dont want Confirmed ?

Okay so I am going to get confirmed soon. I am catholic, (confirmed-being excepted into the catholic faith) (I know im a little behind) I go to church every other sunday with my dad. the only problem with all this, I dont believe in anything that Catholicism teaches. I dont want to be confirmed to that faith, how do I tell my dad and step mom, who always involve god in there life, I more of an agnostic, im juts not sure. I do believe. I think. help.

Ok first, before making sure that you don’t want to be confirmed, think about it. Read the holy bible. If you decide to not believe in the cristian faith, remember, you will be living your life as a lie until you find God and Jesus.

I am confirmend…I hardly go to church anymore…my grandmother is really upset be she understands…I am pretty sure that your parents will understand

I would just go through with it and then go to the path which you feel after that

I’m an atheist, and I’m also a confirmed Catholic. Look, do whatever you need to do to maintain peace at home while still being able to face yourself in a mirror.

It’s ok to play games if your parents are forcing you into it. If being a bit deceptive doesn’t bother you, then just play along and get confirmed. What’s the harm?

Besides, if you ever decide you want to get married in the church, they’re going to want to see proof that you are confirmed.

in my opinion: I dont have one set religion actually I kinda mix a lot together to make my own I feel god doesnt care what religion your in as long as you know him someway and I think you should be honest with your parents because they can surprise you sometimes with their reaction to things just tell them your not sure what you want to be and reasure them that you believe in god your just not sure in what way you believe in him. that type of thing is what you should say to parents even if your not sure you believe at all hope that helps

Answer #6

Good luck, and always stay true to yourself. Remember the old saying, you can’t please everybody all the time, but you can always do what you feel is right.

Answer #7

You have to decide for yourself how much it matters to you. If you’re atheist or agnostic, being ‘confirmed’ is just a meaningless ritual. It may seem pointless, and offensive to reason, but it doesn’t really matter a great deal. On the other hand, if you want to tell your parents that you don’t believe any longer, before this is probably a better time than after.

If you believe in some other religion or variation of christianity, you might see being confirmed as being actively bad, in which case… well, I’m not exactly in a position to counsel people about how their religion tells them to behave. :)
