I can also understand why your parents are concerned. Although you guys don’t care about age, your parents will always care. He is an adult, you are not. The age difference leaves a huge gap of room that you still have to grow yet. The fact that you were dating an adult for a whole year without telling them most likely made this even more alarming to them. They care about you, and although I’m sure you want them to lay off, telling you NO is their way of protecting you. It’s their job to do so.

When it comes to them allowing you to date him, you could ask if they would be willing to get to know him. There’s a huge chance that they won’t budge, though, so you really should try to respect their wishes as best as you can. If you guys like each other so much, surely you’d be okay waiting until the time is right, right?

He’s dating a minor, it’s illegal. You might think that you like this guy, but he’s a grown man. You’re still a kid, of course your parents would be worried. He’s probably only a decade, or two, younger then them. I mean what parent wouldn’t worry? He could even be potentially dangerous taking advantage of your feelings. You’ve said it’s only a crush, don’t let it get out of hand. There’s a large age gap, consider the law.

Well, I’m not surprised your parents got really mad. You at age fifteen are still a minor, and this guy/girl is almost old enough to play the lottery and legally drink alcohol. I don’t think you parents are going to let you hang around someone that much older especially if you two have more on your mind than friendship. It’s illegal for you and your crush to do anything sexual together, and you do realize he/she can go to jail if they try anything on you. Sorry for the lecture, but I’m sure your parent’s are just trying to keep you safe. And you may not care about the age difference, but the GOVERNMENT does. Please be careful. If all else fails you can almost technically do anything you want in three years.
