You first started to have symptoms at the age of 14? That’s not exactly usual with ADD. Strictly speaking to be diagnosed, you have to be exhibiting signs before the age of 7. Instead of self diagnosing, tell them what signs you’re noticing, and tell them that the things you’re noticing are concerning you.

ADD develops early on in life. maybe you have some kind of other illness. you should sit down with your parents and ask them to take you to a doctor because you are worried about your health.

There is adult ADD where you develop it later in life and you could have had it your whole life just the major stufff is showing now it is good that you know that it has been like this for a year because it takes at least 6 months to tell if you have ADD good luck w/ your parents and keep brongging it up to them!!!

Everyone has some symptoms of ADD. Reading the self-evaluation tests it is easy to talk yourself into believing you have this. Only an objective professional is equipped to determine if your symptoms are pathological or within the norm. Other conditions can also present some of the same symptoms ADD does; a psychiatrist should be able to differentiate.

Nobody develops adult ADD; someone who is newly diagnosed with adult ADD has had it their entire life. I’ve had ADD my whole life but wasn’t diagnosed until I was 48.

Some parents are leery of having things like this diagnosed because it does follow you for life. Most prospective employers can not legally ask you if you have any disabilities but the military can ask if you have any developmental delays or learning disorders. Being diagnosed can disqualify you from things later in life.
