How do I go on a diet this way?

I need to know how to lose weight. I have compulsive eating though, so I know it will be hard..

Well this is what happens in my average day::

I wake up at 6:00 and get on the bus to go to school at 6:30 I normally don’t have a lot of time for breakfast, so I grab either a banana or a granola bar.

Then I get on another bus at around 7:15. Then that bus takes me to school (I exchange buses) So it’s a 1 1/2 hour drive.

Classes end at 3:10, but my bus doesn’t pick me up until 5:30. So I usually don’t get home until 6:30.

I usually binge when I get home, because it’s such a long day and I’m stressed out. I can’t ask my parents to take me to school and back home, because they work over 2:00 hours away.

Is there any way to fit a diet in here? Thanks so much!

I now weigh 142 pounds, and I’m 5”2 and 13 years old.

It sounds like you’re not eating enough at the right times. Not eating all day kills your metabolism. And then when you “binge” at night I would imagine you’re tired and probably not engaging in much physical activity, so most of the calories you consume will not be burned off. You could be taking in less than the recommended amount of calories in a day and still gain weight with those habits. Try to pack some healthy food to eat throughout the day, some fruit, granola, clif bars, whatever you enjoy eating that has some nutritional value. Space it out. If you don’t have time for three squares a day, eat six quick small meals. And don’t eat much at night, you’re body doesn’t need it. Don’t starve yourself at night either though, just eat enough. This will probably be more food than you are used to eating in a day, but just in a more effective manner. My wife has lost 21 lbs. on weight watchers, and she eats more food than she used to, it’s just healthier food and healthier habits. And please don’t buy in to all this garbage about having to look like a twig to be healthy and pretty. Good luck.

What do you mean it’s more than I’m used to? I have compulsive eating. That means I eat TONS.

And I can’t help what I buy, my parents are addicted to junk food.

Also I don’t want to be a stick. I want to be about 110 to 115 pounds, which I think is a very healthy weight for my height.

Don’t be too quick to label yourself a compulsive eater. From the description you gave of your day, you eat almost nothing until the end of the day, and by then you are starving. Being really hungry after not eating all day isn’t compulsive, it’s normal. But it’s not helthy to eat that way, starving yourself all day long and then making it up at night. Talk to your parents about wanting to eat healthier. They may be willing to buy healthy for you but still want junk food in the house for themselves, so it may take some self control. Everything I told you above will help you if you can do it. And I’m glad you don’t want to be a stick.
