How do I convince my parents that I can take care of a dog?

I guess its like everybody says, prove to you’re parents that your responsible. But how? My sister bought me two hamsters for my birthday last year but she was the one who took care of them because she only bought them because she has always wanted hamsters but since they were “mine” I had to pay for all the food etc. But since it was my sister that took mostly care of them now my parents think that I’m not responsible enough to get a dog. What should I do?

I agree with phrannie…A family dog sounds like a good idea. Then when you are older and move out or go to college, your dog can stay with your family.

tell your parents that dogs teach you responsibility and they mostly lay around a lot lol

I have4 dogs im 14 and and I feed them when I wake up and go to bed not hard really

and buy an atoumatic wter bowl that you can hook up to hose and it auto maticlly fills the water o and tell them that dogs prefer to be outside then inside so tell them not wry about hairs every were

Maybe your parents know more about the differences in taking care of a dog, and taking care of hamsters…you can’t just “put a dog away” for two days, because you have other things to do…

Also, at 13 or 14, they know that you’re just about to enter into a super-busy time in your life…busier than you know…a dog lives for 12 to 16 years on the average…you’d be in your 20’s by the time it was old…Maybe you should more on having a “family” dog…one that you will “help” care for, as will your sis…but mom and dad are involved, too…

if you already have hamsters, tell your sister to back off and let you have a chance at taking care of them. if she makes you pay for all the food, you should be able to do what you want with them. make a deal with your parents. say like “if I can take amazing care of the hamsters for a month or to, will you be convinced that I can take care of a dog?” and go with that.
