Black humour??

Hey I am doing a Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet(Act 3 Scene 1) essay and I have to mention the use of black humour. But I don’t know what it is…

help…please…

Answer #1

It’s also called Dark Humour more often than Black Humour.

It’s when a drama has disturbing or sad subjects such as death, disease, warfare etc. are treated with bitter amusement, usually to try and shock or offend the person reading or watching it.

It’s mainly when they try and take something sad, depressing, upsetting, and make it comical in it’s own sick way.

donkephant, you are full of Sh$t..

Anyway what mandyloo said is correct.

A website that explains it a bit better: http://www.instructables.com/id/STACZH2FD2IBOIU/

I can’t think of any good examples at the moment, but I know that it is closely related to irony as well.
