Well, I’ve always let my dogs sleep in the same room as me…not on the bed, but beside it, or at the end of it…I’ve had dogs as old as 10 (my sister’s dog, who I was caring for) cry when left in their crate in the kitchen…but the minute I brought the crate into the bedroom with the rest of us (hubby and three dogs), she immediately went to sleep.

Dogs are pack animals…they can hardly stand to be isolated from the rest of the pack (you)…if you can, leash him to your bed post, so he can’t wander the house…but he can still be close to you. He might protest a little, but it will be short lived…say “Shhht”…once, and then ignore him completely, and he’ll go to sleep…content.

your his mummy, really! that’s what you are now.. I’ve never understood why people want pets, but them make them ‘stay’ somewhere at night…

unless he’s really dodgy with the ‘poopy’ training, I’d let him sleep in my bedroom, he’s your companion, he should be with you, shoulnd’t he?

I’ve had dogs, and even when I ‘dog sit’ the dog comes with me…bless em! I have cats again now, and they sleep, one by my feet (brave pussyvat lol!!) and the other on my pillow…

but at night he doesn’t understand why you leave him, during the day you probably have him with you all the time, and suddenly at night you disappear…

when he cries, he’s crying for you…god I would feel so guilty!!

I love pups…and dogs…in fact I love all animals (note; insects and rodents are not in that caterfory lol!!)

give your baby a hug and let him sleep with you, honestly, you will sleep so much better and the bond between you two will become even stronger…:)

Yup phrannie’s got it right. Also, to help your puppy feel less alone and closer to you, you can give him an old tshirt or blanket of yours that has your scent on it. Give that to him to snuggle up to in his bed because it helps him feel more secure :)
