How can I stop my kitten from peeing on my stuff?

My 4 month old kitten is peeing on my antique sofa, wood floor, rugs, etc. When we catch her sniffing around, we put her in her clean litter box and she potties there just fine. If we don’t catch her, she just goes where she pleases.

Her sister does NOT do this at all. We have TWO litter boxes and keep them very clean. How can I make the one stop ruining my things? Thank you kindly, ~Karan~

Answer #1

Put the cat in a bathroom (with tile) and leave it in there with a litter box, food, and water, just leave it in there for a few days, and im not saying lock it up and ignore it, but it will learn to use the litter box, and if it makes and accident on the floor, it will be easy to clean up on the tile floor, this worked for my cat. Hope this helps.

Answer #2

There’s a spray you can get at a pet store made for this…it creates a scent that the cat dislikes and keeps her away from that area (I think it’s called “shoo”, or something like that)

Some kittens are just rebellious that way, but have patience…don’t give up on her or you’ll never correct the behaviour

Answer #3

I tried the pet repellent it didnt work too well only made my dog more rebellious but I only tried one brand

Answer #4

spray bottle and discipline dont shout frantically though just be stern screaming will make it nervous and being to gentle will make it feel like its nothing to worry about

Answer #5

dogs and cats are a little different, but here’s a hint: cats hate the small of citrus…if you can find a lemon scented spray that’s safe for furniture, then try that

I hang oranges in my christmas tree to keep my 4 cats from climbing it

Answer #6

Pee on her stuff.

Answer #7

Is the animal spayed?

Answer #8

Wow, please don’t spank your cat! That is the worst advice ever, and is animal abuse. Cats are not children, they don’t understand why you are spanking them. They is either a problem with a human or other animal in the house that is causing this bad behavior. maybe you need a little quality time with your kitten to help it calm down and be happier

Answer #9

NO. DO NOT spank her! This does NOT help, it only confuses them more and scares them. They don’t make the connection. Do a search you’ll see I’m not kidding.

I have a pee problem with my 14 week old kitten and yet to find an answer other than worming her and using kitty attactants. We used a kitty attractant litter and it worked but they stopped carrying it so now I have to find a REAL solution.

I’ve looked all over, and I’ve yet to settle on something but what I DID SEE was everyone says DO NOT punish her because it’s 50/50 with either its behavioral or illness. Don’t punish her for being sick.

Answer #10

I know puther nose in it then put her straight in the kitty liter box and do it every single time theres only 1 problem to this solution is that if they have been in there a few times already they will not go in there again you will need to change the liter I did this with my kitten and now shes good however im trying to train her to go outside any solutions for this

Answer #11

Yell at her and spank her and use a spray bottle every time she does it. I know it sounds harsh but she’ll learn her lesson faster!
