Can someone tell me honestly if it's just water retention or water and fat when a woman is on her her mid-cycle?

It feels like nothing fits me and usually everything’s loose at the waist is this normal?

It’s normal. It’s water retention. Most women gain a few kg’s during their period due to water retention. The key to helping with this is eating lots of vegetables with fiber and drinking water. Eating any salty foods will cause your body to retain water and this will make you feel even more bloated. Also some women gain some weight due to being constipated during that time, even just for a few days. So I suggest getting some exercise and drinking more water, that should help with the discomfort.
