Mayan Calendar eh? How is this linked to 2012?

Can someone tell me what this thing is? I’ve heard its related to 2012 (A.K.A the end of the world) so if anybody can tell me how it’s related I’d greatly appreciate it.

PS. I mean I need a deep explanation. Like start to end of the theory. I don’t think 2012 will happen, but I need some explanation to tell my friends. They believe it >.>

Yes, the calander ends on that date, it does not mean it’s the end of the world, it’s simply when the calander ends and rolls over.

The mayan calendar is actually represented by a pyramid which was built by the late mayan civilization that lived in chichen itza in mexico. There are 4 staircases one on each of the 4 sides of the pyramid.the mayans predicted that our solar system will align with the galactic equator vertically and will be in the centre of our galaxy horizontally. This alignment will cause volcanic eruptions, flood and other calamities thus destroying earth. Moreover the mayans calendar begins on 11th august,3113 B.C. And ends on 12th december,2012 A.D. But I shall assure you that there is no need for you to be consternated by the doomsday theory because it has never been substantiated.

The anicent Myans predicted many things that have come true. There calendar finished on the 21st ( correct me if im wrong) of december 2012. I dont kow whether its true or not,im not outruling it.

Some belive its a total end of the world, some believe its just going to be when CHANGE starts.

The mayans date back to 600 BCE and were hihgly inteligent. They say the worlds split in to 7 sections and were nearing the fifth stage. Only few people will survive. These will then become spiritual and praise God

Answer #5

Actually, it is impossible for our solar system to align perfectly with the center of the galaxy, we are off by about 11 diameters of the sun. (In other words, make the Sun flat, the distance to being able to align is of by about 11 of those lain side by side.)
