How do I get my boys to be more respectful and independant?
I have 2 boys 12 & 14. they are good kids mostly. but here recently, they have been reall hateful, snotty, and have real crappy attitudes. They dont hit me or others, they dont cuss, or tell me no. they dont do drugs/alcohol {not to my knowledge anyway} They are just very loud, rude, illmannered, disrespectful. When I ask them 2 do sumthin, they act like either they 4got/didnt hear me. I also have to remind them everyday to brush their teeth/take a bath, use deoderant and do their chores. these are things that they have been doing everyday for at least 4 years now, you think they would remember to do them on their own by now. How do I get them to be more respectful, and more independant???please help.
Don’t do anything for them don’t tell them to brush there teeth if they get messed up teeth cause of it it’s not your fault there 12 and 14 there old enough to do on there own they should have been when they were younger it’s not that hard to do simple things. And put them in there place when they get outa line
Uhm yeah, and then she has to pay their dental bills, that sounds smart…
If this is a sudden change, I’d try and find out why. Kids do not suddenly change for no good reason (ok well there’s the teen thing, but that doesnt explain the lack of hygiene). Are they around new people, are they being bullied, new school? Maybe something happened? Try enforcing rules, I.e. punish bad behavior, reward good behavior, but I really would try finding out if there was something else going on
there is nothing you can do its what all boys in that age range start to do at some point…I would know I am 14
thats easy. force independence on them. they want food? they make it. they want a new game or toy? they work for it.
when I say work I mean work. here are my jobs if I want some money, bailing hay, mowing law, washing cars, harvesting corn, ect.
