Haven't Brest Feed in 6 months and still producing milk!

So my son decided to stop brest feeding all on his own 6 months ago now. I’m still producing milk and was wondering when it stops?

the thing is, he hasnt feed in almost 6 months. he decided to stop and hasnt taken any interest in it since then. the first 5 months of him being born was a battle to get him to latch and feed in the first place. I dont understand why there’s still milk. it wasnt painful at all after he stopped, and still isnt. im just stumped on this one.

you get some lactation, but it shouldn’t be a lot…only drops…

lactation is a very powerful maternal driven thing, maybe sub-conciously you are a bit sad he stopped breastfeeding? it has been known that women who breastfeed have a strong bond with their baby through the feeding…

however, if your not stimulating the production at all anymore and if your getting more than that go see your doctor…sometimes lactating can be that the message hasn’t got to your peitutary gland for some reason…

I’m sure its harmless, and maybe your baby is stimulating it (you know the let down reflex, or when your baby cries and you can leak…) maybe it’s just your body is really tuned into your baby and isn’t qute ready to give up (as such)

but normally, when you stop feeding you ‘dry up’…just speak to your health visitor, ask if she’s (or he) has ever come across it before, I’m sure your not the first, but be good to get a health proffesional to give you their experiance…

and well done for breastfeeding…you should be proud!!! honestly, kids so ungreatful lol, don’t know what’s good for them ;)
