Giving Sugar Free Items to Baby

I was wondering if any of you guys know if it is bad to give babies items that are sugar free. By this I am refering to items made with Splenda for example. I am diabetic and that is the type of things I eat and drink at home. Someone recently told me that I should not give him those things because they are harmful. I just don’t know how true this is.

I don’t believe artificial anything is good for a person, so I wouldn’t feed it to my baby. I know sugar is bad, but at least its natural! Once he/she’s one year, you can use natural sweeteners such as honey. And fruits, like kween83 said, as a sweet treat. I agree with her 100%

Answer #2

How old is the child?

You definatly should not give a baby sugar - whether it is artifical or not. There is no benefit that the child get’s from it, so why would you feed it to them.

Answer #3

Cheers Jess..if you deprive your kids from sweet stuff, they are going to want it more!!!

Answer #4

don’t give kids sugar free stuff…not good for them, it’s ‘artificial’, heard it causes cancer…I’ve got 2 kids and I just give them fruit or use honey as a sweetner!
