Gas $4+ a gallon...what to think...

So what do you guys think will happen since the price of gasoline keeps on rising?

I actually think we are currently in a depression and it is only going to get worse until somebody realizes it and makes a plan to where we can get out of it instead of pushing other countries to lower their prices for us(India).

“Since the barrel of oil is priced in dollars, this means the price per barrel will be affected by our government’s fiscal policies.” …Another reason we are knocking on Iran’s door…the Iranian Oil Bourse seeks to change that…can’t say I blame them.

Fiat currencies are prone to Kondratieff wave…speculators I read are calling this the Kondratieff winter…Derivative based economies are founded on shambles…and if we stave off deflation(via spendthrift policies… hello… war / reconstruction / expensive contractors…) and institute further stagflation we are asking for a greater avalanche when the inevitable occurs. We may go to the other extreme and have hyperinflation…the result is always the same…whether we have more money in our pockets and that money buys less or we have little chance of acquiring money, matters little.

It is urgent that the public at large learn that the Federal Reserve is a privately owned bank. The quicker we rid ourselves of its parasitic bordering on bloodletting practices…the quicker we return to sane…I.e.intrinsic backed currency…not abstract value based fiat currency…the shorter the duration of suffering need be.

I think it is no surprise that we have two oilmen in the white house and that the price of gas has quadrupled since they took office.

And also that the american family with the closest ties to the sauid royal family also happens to control the presidency.

It would be naive to think these were coincidences.

invest your money now. it going to get higher, just like health care. unless theres an alterantive source of energy is found of mass use in cars/indusry you can expect oil and gas prices to climb higher, it can also be do to speclautres constanly drive the price up threw there buying and selling, of the commodiey. BUY LOW SELL HIGH.

DAYUUUMMM what the f*ck IS WRONG WITH THE PRESDENT WE NEED LOWER GAS PRICES NOW!!

Answer #5

This is the result of a fiat currency. Oil Companies are the first tier in succesion to accomodate…due to their large symbiosis with central banks…they are hedging their profits first…so as to not incrue so serious a hit. One reason the U.S. so badly wants Hugo Chavez away from Venezuela’s reins of power…he serves to block oil companies bids on the national resources and to provide example of socialized oil.

G. Edward Griffin wrote a book, “The Creature from Jekyll Island “…He has a brief synopsis online…www.bigeye.com…I believe…somewhere around that site…I’m sure it can be found if you look hard enough. He describes the cartel that owns western central banking…and our Federal Reserve…worthwhile read.

We are on the precipice of a severe depression.

Dude I saw my financial advisor last week and he said that our country is more close to deppression now than we’ve ever been. Our economy is the worst its ever been, and it won’t get any better for about 3 years is what he told me. Now of course this is all just speculation but if you ask me things willl get much worse before we see any inclenation of them gettting better…

The disinterred and freshly lysol sprayed corpse of JimJones has managed to dust himself off and offers his tutelage on the risks inherent in the punch bowl. I think I’ll pass. Thanks but no thanks.

I’d love to see a real socialized oil distribution process. Im not naive enough to think that the same cronies would keep their hands out of the cookie jar because it has the federal label stamped on it.

You would like to dismiss my appraisal as a “conspiracy theory.” I do confess it is likened to a conspiracy. It is theory inasmuch as the Italian mafia is. The light of day hasn’t shown clearly on it yet, but that will change. I’ve offered one source already, any interested reader can go to http://www.lewrockwell.com/rothbard/frb.html for a second.

Conspiratorial allignments are at work fleecing the people…See…that isnt so ostracizing as you’d like it to be.

There seems to be a whole lot of “kool-aid drinking” going on around here - from conspiracy theories about oilmen in the White House to blaming it on the Federal Reserve Bank.

No one has mentioned that those dastardly oil companies only make .08 cents/gal. while the combination of Federal, State and local governments take .50 - .60 cents/gal.

And, what did they do to earn that money?

Do they take the risks inherent in oil exploration? No.

Do they have to foot the bill to extract the oil, process it and get it to your car? No.

And, what about the environmentalists? Do they really give a damn about the poor who will have to choose between staying warm or eating this winter? Of course not. They care more about the rights of vermin.

Meanwhile, thanks to them, we haven’t built a nuclear power plant or oil refinery in something like 30 years.

And, you wonder why the price of gas is rising?

Wake up and smell the hydrocarbons!

“There seems to be a whole lot of ‘kool-aid drinking’ going on around here - from conspiracy theories about oilmen in the White House to blaming it on the Federal Reserve Bank.”

It is not a conspiracy theory that Cheney had headed the energy policy team when they first took office. And that he met secretly with the oil industry execs. It is not a conspiracy theory that Oil companies have made records profits never before seen since then. If it walks like a duck…

“No one has mentioned that those dastardly oil companies only make .08 cents/gal. while the combination of Federal, State and local governments take .50 - .60 cents/gal.”

Oh yes, those poor poor oil companies… I wonder how they will ever get by?

“And, what did they do to earn that money?”

Hijacked our governemt, and raped the american people.

“Do they take the risks inherent in oil exploration?”

That is their business. They are obviously not losing money on it.

“Do they have to foot the bill to extract the oil, process it and get it to your car?”

Uhh.. No. They do not “foot the bill”. We do, every time we fill up. Do you really think the oil companies absorb those costs? No, they are passed on to the consumer, as any business would.

“And, what about the environmentalists? Do they really give a damn about the poor who will have to choose between staying warm or eating this winter? Of course not. They care more about the rights of vermin.”

So you think the poor are doing better now that heating oil has tripled since dick and dubya took over? It is the high cost of fuel, and the huge profits being taken that are making the poor have to choose between food or heat.

“Meanwhile, thanks to them, we haven’t built a nuclear power plant or oil refinery in something like 30 years.”

Until they do something about the waste problem, nuclear power is not a safe option. And it is the oil companies that refuse to build the refineries. That way they can play with supply to up the cost of gas.

“And, you wonder why the price of gas is rising?”

No, I don’t wonder. It is quite obvious to me why.

What I do wonder about is why there are so many appologists for the oil industry out there. Do you think the have the american peoples best interest at heart?

Answer #10

The US is not in a depression. Not even close. Economically, we were doing much worse in the early 90s than we are now. Gas prices also spiked back then, and the US had a very bad recession.

One reason oil prices are as high as they are today is because of speculation. People are trading on oil stocks more now than in the past, betting on limited production. Another reason is because the value of the dollar has gone down. Since the barrel of oil is priced in dollars, this means the price per barrel will be affected by our government’s fiscal policies.

A change in fiscal and monetary policy by the US government would really help matters right now, and I think that will only happen when we have a new administration. Cheney himself said that “deficits don’t matter”.
