Gas has gotten 3 times more expensive, why doesnt anyone care?

Well I wasnt driving 8 years ago so I had no idea, but it seems like most people are completely unaware that gas has gone up from $33 a barrel to over a $100 a barrel, in 8 years! The last 8 years with Bush as the president… Gas used to be under a dollar! Why arent people making a bigger deal about this? I dont understand how people can still support the president with gas being over $3!

Answer #1

Halliburton?

Answer #2

my viewpoint is that gas isnt’ going to get any cheaper so spend it while its cheap my car only get 16 miles to the gallon and gas is a lil above 4 dollars but you know you just have to work harder to pay for gas! not wait for pay to increase try to get a raise at work. thats what I do…so spend it while its cheap!

It never ceases to amaze me how oblibious most people are to macroeconomics.

Bush has been spending money like a sailor, while simultaneously lowering taxes. The result is a predictable devaluing of the dollar combined with inflation. This accounts for the trippling of oil prices and other imported commodities, gold, and silver.

Moodies is threatening to downgrade the credit rating of the US for crikes sake! Drastic spending cuts are needed, but instead of doing that, they’re trying to inflate the problem away by printing money as fast as they can. Even worse, non of the top candidates are even talking about the problem. Prepare to welcome back the misery index.

The Bush administration has laid waste to our economy through rampant mismanagement. Don’t expect him to be capable of fixing it.

Answer #7

When you put an oil man in the white house, what do expect? Do you think it is a coinincidence that Bush got into office, immediately had secret energy meetings with top oil company execs, and then developed their energy plan which was basically war in the middle eastm and controlling supply in order to jack up prices. The high cost of fuel has far reaching ramifications. The price of everything goes up because it is costing companies so much more to ship and distribute product.

The only ones winning in this are Bush, his friends the Suadis, and Exxon/Mobil and the rest of their ilk!

Answer #8

I remember the gas wars when gasoline got as low as 23 cents/gallon.

Gasoline is only one expense of driving. Even for someone buying a giant land yacht SUV the other costs like depreciation, insurance and maintenance are more than their fuel costs. Because of this most people who can afford to drive a SUV with $1.50/gal gasoline can also afford to drive it with $3.00/gal gasoline since the majority of their costs won’t change.

Answer #9

I listened to a press conference recently and when bush was asked what advice he could give to american families that would have a hard time paying the expected $4.00/gallon gas price he answered “$4, I haven’t heard that” is he really that dumb, or just pretending to be? either way, what a poor excuse for a president. “The Bush administration has laid waste to our economy through rampant mismanagement. Don’t expect him to be capable of fixing it.” GREAT ANSWER!

ACTUALLY, GREAT ANSWERS FROM EVERYONE. I ride a bike and if the distance is too far, I drive a hybrid.

Answer #10

Can anyone say INFLATION TAX, what, you think policing the world and spying on citizens pays for itself? Show of hands, how many here heard on the news the U.S. Dollar Index dipped below 78 for the first time in history recently and looks to continue it’s freefall. Are you aware the U.S. government quit reporting the growth in money supply in March 06. How can we gauge inflation–GAS PRICES–or gold, dump the federal reserve note now before it is too late.

Answer #11

Summarized, you pay high gas prices in lieu of paying higher taxes. If congress had to petition the people for higher taxes, do you think we would continue to stomach needless wars? The Federal Reserve owners keep control. Congress can be as spendthrift as they care to be. You lose your shirt. The Federal Reserve system at work.

Don’t take my word for it.
