What do I do if my friend used my name when she was pulled over by a cop?

What can i do if a old friend of mines tells me that about 6 months to a year ago she was pulled over by a cop and she gave him my name instead of her own?

Answer #1

the friend shouldn’t have put you into her troubles. but i think sooner or later the cop will know it isn’t her name because there are profiles that are link to everyone in a system to figure out who they are.

Answer #2

thank you. i really hope so, i just want nothing on my record saying im a bad driver.

Answer #3

Obviously that is not a friend. You should be fine.

Did a criminal charge or a traffic citation result? If so, call or go to the police station at your earliest opportunity to tell them you just found out about it and ask that any record of the incident be expunged. But they will likely want to know the identity of your friend, and may make that a condition of their removing it from your record. Tell your friend what you are going to do before you go, and give her the opportunity of accompanying you and owning up to what she did. If she declines to join you, do it anyway.

If she only received a warning in your name, with no criminal charge or traffic citation, it may be best to just let it go - after you tell her clearly what you think and feel about her doing that to you.

Answer #5

A FRIEND would never do that.
