Cops, what can and cant they do?

I was at a high school football game and an officer of the law approched me and started to accuse me of something I didnt do. I told him it wasnt me and then he moved on to my friends asking them (this kid I was with was trowin those poper firecrackers) if they were doing it. the kid who did it admitted to doingit and ten the cop asked if we had an more blah blah blah. Then when the officer walked away stupidly the idiot throwin firecracker cused and the cop thought it was me and with out saying ANYTHING he grabs my arm and jerks me to him and walks me to the exit of the game. he starts saying in a firm loud voice to get out of her your kicked out. Now im asking can a cop grab me like that with out probabole cause? and what right was just violated?

Answer #1

im pretty sure if you were no threat to the police officer that he wasnt legally aloud to touch you…but it doesnt really matter because police officers can do a lot of things and get away with them. whoever said theyre the law but arent above it was wrong

Answer #2

That was mis identification and uncessary force. I dont think he had any right to throw you out like that.

Answer #3

Many times police work security jobs on their off duty time to earn extra money. They generally do wear their Police uniform even they aren’t doing police business.

In general if you are asked to leave you must leave otherwise you are guilty of trespassing.

Also, if you are hanging out with kids who are getting into mischief you are asking for trouble yourself. Sometimes it is impossible to avoid guilt by association but in this case you could have left and sat somewhere else when your friend started throwing firecrackers.

Answer #4

Cops can do anything they want, including murder you in cold blood. Juries almost always believe the cop’s story.

Answer #5

Are you sure he was an official police officer? Sounds more like a rent-a-cop (security) to me. Hey, your friend should not have been throwing the poppers…just be glad he didn’t do more to you…

Answer #6

I think that the cops can touch you… but cannot hurt you or use unnecessary force unless you are a threat to anyone.

I think the cop was allowed to grab your arm though.

=[ Not that sure to be honest though.
