It has merit by calling to question religious dogma… however… by virtue of the fact that the pseudopractitioners readily ascribe to anathematizing all those not in on the joke… and doggedly adhering to technocratic babble themselves… it deteriorates into a pretentious example of the blind leading the blind.

Pseudopractitioners are the modern equivalent of the sadducees in that their disbelief is based on literal interpretations of religious teachings… and that they measure subjective worth by that standard of enlightenment. Their high regard for themselves is displayed in their scholarly robes rather than the priestly ones of the sadducees but similar in ostentation and smarminess.

Imagine a huge circle jerk of intellectuals getting off on the delusion of their own self-importance and you have the creation of the Flying Spaghetti Monsterism movement.

It’s what makes the grinning idiots grin when they’re on their high horses.
