Fixing a damaged metabolism

How do you fix a damaged metabolism? I used to eat only 400 calories, and now I don’t eat a lot, but I eat more, and I really don’t enjoy the weight gain from it. Like I’ll eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast, a grilled cheese, and a normal dinner, and I still gain weight. Should I slowly work my calories up? Keep in mind I need to do this so I DON’T gain weight. I’m getting depressed, and feeling overweight again, and I don’t want to give in to what I used to resort my problems with. And another thing, I’ve supposedly gained weight and my clothes still fit and they’ve always been tight. (Not very) not loose. How can this be? Just water weight during the day with unusually high numbers? Thanks for any help!

You need to increase your energy expenditure to consume the extra calories you are starting to ingest. Possibly, in time, your body Will adjust and start burning more calories naturally.

Answer #2

well its good that your eating more noiw remembercthat the average daily calory intake is about 2000 so youve got some catching up to do! I think the weight gain might be all in your head, you probably think your gaining weight and look bigger, but you actually might not be. if your exerscising as well, then you shouldnt be gaining too much weight of course, it depends on your weight now your body might be putting on the weight from the food because it needs it kind of like when girls go through puberty and add a bit , they need that extra weight so your body probably needs that to keep it healthy and help you do the things you do everyday look after your health good health is one of the most important things you have, so take care of it!

yeah I screwed myself up by eating like once a day for a few years, the high school years, wakeup go to school, come home eat, sleep.

Then getting out of high school and trying to get a good eating habit, my metabolism was so low I gained a bunch of weight, just keep up with the same routine and eventually your body will adjust, I think it was like 3-4 months till it was right.

EDIT: And dont put yourself down like that, If you where my age id prob hit on you ;)
