Does anyone have financial advice for this situation?

I GAVE MY FRIEND MY DEBIT CARD AND SHE WAS SUPPOSE TO ONLY GET $20 DOLLARS OUT FOR HER LUNCH. CAME TO FIND OUT THAT SHE WAS DEPOSITING EMPTY ENVELOPES INTO MY ACCOUNT TO WITHDRAWL MONEY THAT I DID NOT HAVE IN THERE. MY CHECKINGS AND SAVINGS ARE BOTH IN THE NEGATIVE $400 . MY ACCOUNT IS NOW IN RECOVERY AND I HAVE NO JOB TO PAY THE MONEY BACK TO THEM. I AM ALSO DO 9-6-07. AND IT IS GOING TO TAKE ME SOME TIME TO FIND A JOB. ANY ADVICE OF WHAT THINGS I CAN DO.. BESIDES HAVE A YARD SALE TO GET MONEY TO PAY MY ACCOUNT OF.. MY CREDIT SCORE IS REALLY GOING TO BE AN MESS!!!1

Answer #1

She ran a scam on you - credit card fraud - gather evidence and seek remedy through the Court…Good luck !!

Answer #2

You definitely have a case to take her to court because she was only supposed to take out a certain amount, and instead she totally ruined your credit. The fact that you gave her the card makes no difference because you told her that she could only take out 20$. Anyway, maybe you should go see Judge Judy

Dear shamane, With friends like this who need enemies? You need to take her to small claims court to recover not only a judgement for monies owed but for your reputation. You see the bank does not see her as being the deceptive one but YOU since it was your card. I would suggest borrowing money from family or a trusted friend (something I don’t usually recommend) but your credit will be a mess as you stated and it will take years to clear your name. Sue…good luck

Answer #5

Don’t lend your card/pin number out to anyone in the future and definately get your details changes so she can’t do any more damage to your account. Have you confronted her and asked her for repayments??? the fact that you gave her the card means you can’t take legal action against her. See if your bank will accept regular payments to clear it off once you do get a job. The only way out of this mess is to get a job and pay it back.

A lessen learnt here. Don’t give your card to anyone.

Answer #6

Borrowing money from family or a trusted friend would be a way to go here until you are able to get a job. This way you can resolve the matter with the Bank first, since they won’t give a darn that you can’t come up with the money right away. I think that your friend there needs to start paying it back to you. Don’t let the matter go because you specifically told him/her ONLY $20! You try to help someone out and this is what you get in return. It sucks, I know. Shame on your friend. Good luck!
