How can I stop feeling bad about eating something I don't find very healthy and good for me?
My mom cooked dinner and she will be upset if i don’t eat it but it is spaghetti which has a lot of calories,(more than i usually consume for dinner) even at half a cup. I know if i eat it i’m going to feel really bad and be very disappointed in myself but i don’t want to upset my mom so what can i do to not feel so bad about eating it?
I’m in the same boat with my wife and sister. They take turns cooking and sometimes it isn’t the best health wise. Just eat some of everything, not a large portion, but some, just so her feelings are not hurt. Hopefully she made a salad or some steamed vegetables you can fill up on instead. If your really desperate you could claim your not feeling well tonight, but you need to talk to them. I sat down with my family and told them I wanted to start eating healthier and less. They respected that and started making changes as well to eat healthier at dinners. As long as you don’t go overboard on portions and exercise regularly, what she serves won’t make a big difference. I’ve recently lost 50 pounds in two and a half months from doing this and several other things, so I speak from experience.
I have talked to my mom about it and she doesn’t listen to me because she says everyone else like what she cooks so i should just deal with it. I eat small portions but i cant really get any smaller because it won’t fill my up but only at a half cup of spaghetti it is still 300 calories. I’ve been working hard and have lost some weight i just dont want to feel like a failure by eating the food or making my mom feel bad
Umm I can’t really find a nice way to say this but suck it up and eat it. I mean I would understand if you were like a vegetarian and your mom was making meat or something but its not so just eat it. I mean I used to be big(250 lbs mostly fat) and now I’m in the best shape of my life(185 most muscle). It took me about a full year to lose the weight and get the muscle so the guy who posted before me is most likely bs(he could be telling the truth but I doubt it). Anyway what I’m trying to say is this: A. One bad meal once in awhile won’t hurt(he’ll my parents made fatty dinners/bought fast food or something for diner every night). B. If you have a fatty meal just work that much harder your next workout(I’m assuming your following a workout program.) C. Count calories so you can afford a few fat filled meals here and there(after being on a diet it’s the best thing in the world to go out and get a BBQ bacon cheeseburger). So hopefully all of this helps.
baseball101, I’m sorry I told the truth now in answering this question. Yes, I did loose 50 pounds in two and a half months that is the truth. It took a lot hard work, brutal self control and discipline, which you seem to lack by making fun of others success and the impossiblity of it. Many actors and actresses have to loose or gain weight in a hurry, It is not unheard of just uncommon for a regular person to study up on various aspects of achieving rapid weight loss on the human body and make it happen, I have no way of proving it to you, but those around me have seen it and I myself have done it.
Another reason to think about is why would I lie? I’m sorry I did say it, I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished in a short amout of time, But I guess if I’m going to be labeled fraud and a liar I’ll keep my mouth shut in the future. Sorry I even bothered anyone.
I suggest suggesting! Yeah, that’s really lame but either way.. I think just about any meal (within reason) can be healthy if you make it the right way. Spaghetti for example, try whole grain with lots of veggies chopped up in the sauce, and if your mom makes meat balls, try some fake ones (I saw on a cooking show that you can make some spinach balls instead to make it healthier (with the right ingredients you wont really taste it)). Yes, your mom is cooking and shes cooking foods that most of the household likes, and it is kinda rude not to eat it. So if she wont serve different dishes, try to make the ones she does serve healthier. Print her off some recipes and tell her that it sounds really good and you’d love to try it, tell her that you’ve been craving [insert healthy food here] for a while and would love to have it soon. Or treat her to a night free of cooking once and a while, she doesn’t have to cook (or clean) or a night and you get to make the healthy foods that you want to eat. Win-Win.
problem is we dont have alot of ingredients and she cooks for her boyfriend who hates vegetables and anything healthy
Look I’m sorry that what I said offended you but you have to understand that losing 50 lbs in 2 and a half months is ridiculously fast, I mean that’s like 5 lbs a week. Also, what I did was considered fast(250-170ish in 8 months) so 50 in about a quarter of that time is ridiculous. I mean there was another way I could’ve said but I figured that way was rude so I avoided it but I guess I was still rude. Anyway I’m sorry.
Not sure where you get your numbers. A cup of cooked spaghetti is about 220 calories. 1/2 cup of spaghetti sauce with meat is is about 150 calories and plain marinara is about 80. A tablespoon of grated Parmasean is about 20 calories. You are looking at 320-390 kcal for the meal depending on the sauce. Not sure how strict a diet you are on but this doesn’t seem that bad to me. When I know I’m going to eat one hearty meal I just try to eat lighter the rest of the meals that day to balance it out. I really don’t think a < 400 kcal meal is going to wreck your diet; sabotage your diet; or be something you have to feel guilty about.
well i feel guilty if i eat anything over 100 cals.
