Is having low self esteem kind of a disorder?

I mean I know people who have lower self esteem then I do but I was just wondering is it a disorder, because some people you tell them they look good or they are awesome and they still don’t believe it and keep downing themselves everyday.

Often times, low self esteem comes from trauma that has happened in a person’s life. But I guess it could also partly BE from a disorder, like bipolar (almost every bipolar person I know has low self esteem), but it itself is not a disorder to my knowledge …

No. But it may be a symptom of a disorder. Although I think we love to label people these days. Also it is quite common with the middle school - early high school population.

No, but yes it can be a symptom of a disorder or may cause a disorder, such as depression and anxiety. It surely affects one’s life quality. But low self esteem is usually alimented by the person himself, as many people prefer to complain and live in a drama in order to attract more attention and more compliments.
