Empty conversations

When I reunited with other people or family they start asking about how is the job Or most people start talking about I bought this and this bla bla and so on sometimes I feel these are empty conversations is there something wrong with me or have you ever feltl like that too, any answer is welcome thank you.

Answer #1

No there is nothing wrong with you - they are empty conversations. All they are doing is asking the basic questions to be polite and to stop the silence. It’s not exactly a “good” conversation though and most of the time they really don’t care about what your answer is.

Answer #2

I completely understand where you’re coming from.

People put a lot of emphasis on their success, and they use that to define who they are.

I can easily brag to others about my life, but I see it as a waste of time. I prefer to be known for who I am as oppsoed to what I have.

When people start jabbering on about their new car or collection of boats, I just let them talk - smile and nod, right? The conversation usually ends when they ask for my own input and I tell them they would probably be more interested if they just continued talking about themselves.
