How much should I be eating?

So over the summer i lost a lot of weight, I did this by excercising and cutting back a whole lot on calories. Over the past 4 months I have slowly gotten back into my normal eating habits by upping my calorie intake in order to stop losing any more weight. Im 5’3 and 104 pounds, I’m trying to maintain my weight and I’m eating about 1700 calories a day. Is that too much..? should i be eating less? I really like the size I am now but I’m a little unsure about how much i should be eating

There’s a how-to to calculate the amount you should eat daily to maintain your body weight. http://www.funadvice.com/howto/calculate_calories Whoops put the wrong how-to

Answer #2

If you are eating well - good, unrefined, healthy foods ONLY, with a high ratio of micronutrients and fiber to calories - your appetite will properly regulate the amount you eat.

Answer #3

Considering your age, 1700 a day is fine. I know plenty of girls that are smaller than you and eat more. If you’re maintaining weight, then its perfect.

Answer #4

You should be eating anywhere from 15-2000 calories. The number also differs when you factor in your activity level. If you’re a couch potato, then you’ll be eating on the lower end of the spectrum (1,500) and if you’re a super athlete or train 7 days a week, you’ll be eating on the higher end of the spectrum (2,000+).

To really know, try eating in the middle (1,700 calories) for a week. Check the scale at the end of the week to see if you moved up, down, or maintained your weight. Keep doing this until you’re maintaining weight at a constant rate.
