Can I donate blood if I have a cyst?

My school is having a blood drive and I want to see if I’m eligible to donate blood, a few months ago they told me I couldn’t cause I have a ganglion cyst on my wrist and I have to get it checked out first. But I heard there’s no problem with that. If you guys can help me please I want to save a persons life. :)

if it is a proper ganglion cyst it’s no real problem, since they are idiopathic (unknown causes) and have nothing to do with the bloodstream…. if it is an infected boil, which for some reason shows no signs of inflammation or irritation (uncommon but still…) then yes it could be a problem, since the infection could travel into the bloodstream and that makes you unable to donate
