Donation of blood even when THC is in the system??

Okay so can someone donate blood when there is some THC in their blood?

Answer #1

My ex-husband is deathly allergic to THC and to several forms of narcotics. If he were to receive blood from somebody with THC in their system, he’d undoubtedly die on the table.

Stop doing drugs if you’re wanting to donate blood. That turns a nice act into something reckless and dangerous.

Answer #2

No, you should not give blood if you’ve recently done drugs.

When you go to donate they ask you a series of question, drugs being one of them. The reason is because what if they give your blood, not knowing there is THC in it, to someone that is allergic to THC…fatal reactions or serious illness could occur.

Answer #3

These answers are ridiculous. Yes you can donate blood if you have smoked just don’t donate blood while you are high. They will still take your blood if you have just smoked but its probably not good for your body if you have thc floating around and a lack of blood, I don’t see that combo ending well.

THC is stored in fat cells not the blood and the only way THC would be in your blood is if you have just directly smoked. After a few hours it is cleaned out of your blood and stored in fat cells and your blood is perfectly fine. You can donate blood as long as you haven’t taken any kind of drug that is shot up through a needle and in that case they don’t even care about the drug they just want to make sure you might not have a needle transmitted disease.

They don’t even ask you if you have smoked pot in the questionnaire, they only ask about shooting up.

Get out there and donate!!!
