Why is my dog afraid of being in rooms with the door closed, even if I'm in there with her?

My dog sleeps in my room, she’s happy going in the room, but as soon as I close the door, she whimpers and shakes, staring at the door the whole time. This continues for several minutes, even up to an hour. Nothing I do, short of opening the door, calms her down. She behaves similiarly when we go in the garage & the door is closed. She doesn’t seem to care about the front door of the house. It’s really bizarre.

Are you sure its fear? All of our dogs did that, not because they were afraid with the door closed, because they didnt want to be shut up in a room and wanted to be able to roam around when they pleased. They would whimper and shake and whine until we opened the door and they would walk around and come back. They probley just dont want to be closed up in a room.

they probably dont like the room or the door shut most dogs like to feel like there free try keeping the door open and he will stop whimpering

Answer #3

this could be from a bad experience when she was younger if she was ever put in a room with the door closed as punishment. Maybe she assosiates it with that. Also, if she is a naturally quite fearful dog it might just be that this makes her insecure and she’d rather be in a more open space.
