Get my dogs to use the doggie door?

I got a new doggie door but my dogs have never had 1 of these before how do I get them to go through it?

You might either want to go outside and call your dog and show them how to get through, or you could lure your dogs with a tasty treat like hot-dogs or doggy made treats. If you practice this ‘trick’ with your dogs they should get the groove of going through the door pretty quickly.

I had to do the same thing with my dogs …emmalism3568 is rite lure them thrue it until they get used to it..(sometimes you mite actually have to push through tho…theyll probably b afraid to go through at first) hope I cood help!:)

Yep…Emmalism and Ty have the answers…start out with it taped up, a leash and a treat…when one dogs “gets it” the other isn’t too far behind…they will learn from each other.

You might want to start with no flap on the door, so just leave the flap off, or tape it up or something so that it just looks like a hole they can get through. Then go to the other side, close the door and put a treat on the ground… Once they figure out that it’s a hole they can get through then put the flap on and do the same thing, only push it open a bit so they can see how to get through…

Or you can do what I did. Lol, I just pushed my cat through it once and she learnt how to get through it.
