When you call the cops on neighbors that are being too loud at night do they have to come to your house also or just the noisy neighbors?

New people just moved in across from us and this is the third night in a row that atleast ten people have been out on their front porch being loud as can be, yelling, and cursing. Im all for having a good time…but its late and i have a toddler and a newborn that are trying to sleep, i would rather they not hear the foul language, and just because you live in a trailor park does not mean you have to act like trailor trash all night. ugh.

Answer #1

I’m not positive, but I would think that they would at least drop by the person’s home that’s complaining, just to say the situation’s taken care of… or to tell you what all was said when they talked to your neighbors. They may even stop by before going over to your neighbors to get the full story of what’s going on, so that they can go over and talk to them about it.

Answer #2

Yeah they have to come to your house usually and talk to you… But it should’nt be for long I don’t imagine :)

Answer #3

When I called to complain they came to my house first but you can request no blue lights so they wont attract attention to you. Most places i have seen it happen to just go to the place and break up the party.

Answer #4

Ugh, see thats the problem. I don’t want them knowing it was us who called. We’ve had enough problems in here with people and have been broken into…i dont want to p!ss them off but this is ridiculous.

Answer #5

In my country you do not need to call a cop for that. All you need to do is just come to their house, knock on their door and ask them to shut up because you need to have some sleep. :)

Answer #6

Yes you can. its called public disturbance. Most cities have a “noise cerfiew”. They will give them a friendly warning the first time. After that, depending on your city/state they can fine them, ticket them and even make them appear in court if it persists. If the place is rented they could lose there leasing rights and the land lord could kick them out.

Answer #7

Perhaps you could report it anonymously?

Answer #8

Usually yes, they will come and talk to you and maybe get some kind of a statement. But if you want to be anonymous, just explain your situation over the phone and tell them about why you want to be anonymous and I’m sure they will understand.

Answer #9

they have to come to your house to see your side of the story then go to the neighbors house to see why are they putting loud music in the am time when people are asleep.

i think that’s causing a disturbance at night

Answer #10

Talk To Them First.. If They Are Rude .. Call The Cops. And Explain. The Cops
Can Come And Ask Them To Calm Down The Noise.. They Might Want To Ask You For More Facts And How Long This Has Gone On. Tell The Cops. You Have Young Children And This Is Not Acceptable.

Answer #11

I have had to call a couple of times on neighbors across the street. The cops usually ask for my name, but I ask to remain anonymous and just give them the address of the noise disturbance. The cops know who’s calling of course, but they have never stopped by my house. I would imagine that they would respect your privacy.
