You are thinking of mumps…you can get sterilized if you get mumps and come in contact with water if you are a child (sorry susila, but I have an uncle which that happened to)
No, relax.
What you may have heard is that some childhood illnesses - mumps in particular - may affect the male reproductive organs IF the person catches that illness as an adult. Not as a child.
Where did you get that idea? Everyone goes through it as children/youths and there are many men since who have reproduced when older.
