What charity organizations do you support or donate money to?

Obviously we can’t all afford to help them all, but which ones tug your heart strings too hard to say no. I’ve always helped disabled american veterans (DAV), and have recently been helping Smile Train, an organization that provides free corrective surgery for children around the world born with cleft palate and other facial disfigurements that prevent them from smiling and even hinder their ability to eat, not to mention other kids making fun of them.

The charities I support are Amnesty International and Planned Parenthood. AI supports human rights world-wide and works to protect those persecuted because they are the wrong race, religion, or gender for their society. PP is the largest provider of reproductive health services in the US and in some areas it is the only place people can go for family planning, emergency contraception and testing for sexually transmitted diseases.

There are a few local groups that I donate a bit to every year. All of them help with the local youth home that my younger brother spent some time in.

Answer #3

i have a limited amount of money, and although there are lots of charities i would love to support i just cant so i give a monthly donation to a homeless charity, and it helps to ease my conscience when other people knock on my door and i say i already give to one and sadly cant give to everyone. but it breaks my heart to see so many people in crisis, especially after a major disaster. and i especially hate adds on tv, looking for support for deprived children, and cancer, and even poor animals in the jungle who are becomming extint, what sort of world are we living in when ordinary people are forced to make such donations when governments are happy to reap the rewards of hugh wages 3 or 4 times more than the average industrail wage in the countries they represent, and yet they dont do enough to help charity organisations?

If you can’t afford to give money to organizations, consider volunteering some of your time. Almost everyone has organizations near them that would love to have help. I donate money to: Planned Parenthood because they help young teens with medical problems and life decisions without being judgemental. Including information on how to avoid diseases and pregnancies ACLU because it’s sole mission statement is to defend the Constitution of the United States. NARAL because it defends and promotes women’s reproductive rights.

I also volunteer time to several organizations including a local food bank. Good Luck!!
