What do you call a Christian that is (kind of) Pagan?

So i’m catholic and believe in god, saints yadda yadda, but I’m lured into pagan ways, listen to pagan influenced music, and draw stuff like that?? I guess so what am i?or am i just a curious person?

Answer #1

I think you’re still Catholic just curious. I mean I’m christian, it’s what I believe, but I listen to, and am interested in many very non-Christian things.

Answer #2

A Christian who is kinda pagan is called an unbeliever =P lolz jk, it depends what you mean by “kinda pagan,” because whatever you’re referring to may not be so bad.

Answer #3

well paganism isnt really something you do , its who you are. So just because you are listening to a kind of music or drawing pagan drawings does not mean you are pagan. YOU decide if you are pagan. Its not like “is my hair turning brown..? could I be becoming…a brunette?” its not something that happens its something you believe and choose to believe.

Answer #4

I would call that person; “hypocritical.”

(The two religions) contradict each other in a concept? They will eventually contradict one another in something unless they are the same religion. It is just like the concept in geometry that there is one and only one line perpendicular to given plane from a point outside the given plane.. The two religions are not compatible in theory, and, or even in practice.. For example: A Christian cannot be Muslim at the same time (and the other way around). I am not arguing that Christianity is better than Islam, simply that the ideas are incompatible. Just as “Christianity & paganism,” are incompatible.. Christianity forbids one to serve two masters..

You can call yourself a christian and do this but you are not living the life you claim to have chosen.. A person cannot live their life for God and have an honest relationship with him, yet at the same time worship or believe in & practice another religion.. Bottom line: You can test them both as much as you like and in the end their will only be one truth..

Answer #5

U are Catholic.. U just get tempted do stray other ways.. Dont listen to the devils temptations ( no offense to anyone) just wat i believe nd givin my opinion. i have no prob with anyones beliefs but it sounds like ur still catholic. If you feel like its wrong to be pagan then ur probly rite.Member wat the bible says about all that stuff. Is it worth it to u? If you belive in God u must no that its wrong. I think u no where ur heart is :) If you get bored with ur religion nd feel like u want somethin new try to do more research on ur religion. like about angels nd demons. its really interestin to think there is another world we dnt see. thats wat i do to keep interested

Answer #6

What sorts of Pagan influences are we talking about? Much of Christianity originated in Paganism like the cross, Christmas and Easter. The story of Jesus has so many parallels to the heroes and saviors in paganism like those of Horus, Dionysus, Mithras and Hercules. Many argue that instead of being a real person Jesus is simply a composite of pagan hero/savior figures. Do you mean pagan or simply Gothic? There is no reason why Christains can’t like Gothic styles which in fact originated in Christianity.

Answer #7

Some ppl believe that the devil created paganism to confuse ppl in to believing Christ was a copy of a previous god-man. Other Christian writers have concluded that the Mysteries were a type of pre-echo of Jesus’ life “somewhat like premonitions or prophecies.”

Answer #8

It is not wrong to rejoice at the birth of Jesus. It is not wrong to do this every year. It is not wrong to add a religious festival. The date of Dec. 25 isn’t necessarily pagan. Even if the date is pagan, it isn’t automatically wrong to use things that used to be pagan, such as wedding rings, funeral customs, statues, and the names of days.

Answer #9

the reason why paganism is wrong in Gods eyes is becuz they worship more than one god and not our God..

Answer #10

Pre-echo? I’ll have to remember that one. I suppose Romeo and Juliette was just a pre-echo of West Side Story. Shakespeare was so brazen in his plagiarism that he even copied stories from the future!

Answer #11

There are always gonna be love stories that are alike. Im not sure about the pre echo thing either just sayin wat some christians think. Im leaninn more towards the devil decieveing

Answer #12

um, agnostic i suppose? o_o

Answer #13

Um I cant really choose my religion cause my mom does :p

Answer #14

I am interested in angels and demons I’m researching

Answer #15

Dudes, Dudettes(lol?) I do worship God and everybody in heaven Im not saying I do not

Answer #16

yea i am addicted to learnin about all that…….its really excitin.. im glad u r not gonna change… its ok to like the music and drawings.. nothin wrong with that but keep God 1st in ur life <3

Answer #17

The word Christo-Pagan is used to describe people who try to combine aspects of both paths. If you google that you’ll find more resources.

It is simply possible you are in transition to a more Pagan viewpoint and will eventually leave your Christian faith behind. Often an aesthetic appreciation for things is a good indication that your deep self wants to move in that direction. It is also possible that you are on your way to a more grounded type of Christianity. Not all Christians hold to everything in the Nicene creed, there are many ways to follow Jesus, and not everyone even in the early church believed he was literally the Son of God.

If you believe Jesus was a wise man and strive to follow his example rather than believing he is literally ‘God’ you may find elements of Pagan belief, such as an Immanent rather than Transcendent view of the divine, the sacredness of nature and a morality based on non-harm rather than a list of taboos from the bible, also become more part of your beliefs. You could choose to call yourself a Christian or a Pagan at this point, it doesn’t really matter.

good luck on your path, wherever it takes you. Just remember to ‘follow your bliss’.

I find it funny, when people start selling woof tickets, It’s usually the faith-less ones.. I mean face-less ones.. This is certainly a free country and you can be what ever you want as long as it is legal.

But my sense is that I have never really heard of any Pagens that lead lives of meaning. It’s probably a huge waste of your time both emotionally and physically. If you are a person who wants meaning in your life find God through the religion that is “closest” to you.. —— No disrespect, but lack of education and experiential knowledge leads to question like these.

Answer #20

And narrowmindedness leads to answers like yours. Who are you to judge other people? I thought your bible preached against it? Or are you like many christians, a hypocrite? (you should certainly know the meaning of the word, given that you like to throw it around).

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:1-5

“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; Luke 6:37

And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.” John 8:7

Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? Romans 2:1-3

Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor? James 4:11-12

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29

There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor? James 4:12

As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. … Romans 14:1-13

Answer #21

Hypocrite, far from it.. Look here, lost soul.. I serve one “God.” The Bible in Basic English: Explains, clearly.. No man is able to be a servant to two masters: for he will have hate for the one and love for the other, or he will keep to one and have no respect for the other. You may not be servants of God and of wealth. Bottom line; You can not serve two masters. What part of that don’t you understand? You can’t love God & Satan.. You can’t be wiccan & a pentecostal.. & you quoting the bible.. Try telling me something I don’t already know.. Surely you can do better than that. I didn’t pass judgement.. I said what I said & I stand on it. I may have cast the first stone- But you can kick rocks, with the rest of them.. Like I said; lack of education and experiential knowledge..

Answer #22

LOST thats what you are but i also have been lost till i found Jesus and now i am found thank God

Answer #23

i dont suger coat my answers

Answer #24

Okay seriously someone FINALLY gave an accurate answer.

Answer #25

Fail: Pagan is NOT a religion it is an umbrella term to describe a polytheistic faith. You’re thinking more of “Christian Wiccans” There are mystics who worship Jesus and the biblical gods, who are indeed Catholic, but also practice magick.

Answer #26

Funny, I had a classmate in my massage therapy class claim he’ld a grandmother that was something of a Catholic Witch If I’m not mistaken, I think it’s called Rosicrucian or something like that I’ll do some more research on the morrow and share my findings with you

Answer #27

You have indeed past judgment, it’s clear in your previous post. And you may claim to already “know” all this, but it’s evident you hardly grasp any of it, how sad. ~~ Who is to say one cannot equally believe in more than one God. I’ve known multiple people who have, do, and have myself. ~~ “lack of education and experiential knowledge..” Really, what knowledge do you have on the matter, aye?

Answer #28

@ Angel ….face palm Half the time those are the same people who claimed the devil put dinosaur bones on the earth, reject scientific facts, and will mar history to fit their story.

It is an accepted fact that the earliest known religions were polytheist, there’s an abundance in evidence pointing to these claims. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Je$u$ was born in the Spring, if you read the bible it states clear evidence. The original Sabbath day was Saturday, converted to Sunday. Easter is Ostria, ever wonder why the death of Je$us changes form year to year? the bible does not state when he dies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~ “it isn’t automatically wrong to use things that use to be pagan” “Take heed to yourself that you be not snared by following them . . . and that you inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so I will do likewise. You shall not do to the Lord your God: for every abomination to the Lord, which he hates, have they done to their gods . . .” (Deut.12:30-32). The bible speaks about being against taking part in celebrating others festivals . Remember, the devil is deceiving and may tempt you to to follow he@thon ways.

Answer #29

Omgosh you’re awesome

Answer #30

If I passed judgement so be it… But I seriously doubt, that I would let you or any other non-believer, confuse me or any other Christian, About worshiping God.. You straddle the fence, apparently, your a confused as articwolf, no disrespect “articwolf.. The Bible is my knowledge, & Christ is my teacher.. I serve one God.. & one God only.. The Bible also warns me about people like you.. & I quote; Deuteronomy 18:9-14 “When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God.. Oh, & here’s another good one for you. So blow the dust off of your Bible & listen up; Joshua 24:15

And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” & you can take that to the bank, Aye..?

God don’t like ugly.. Perhaps you have heard that expression.. I’ve heard this expression most of my life and understand it to mean: “Ugly ways.” The old people would use it to express their disapproval to negative behavior. & thats exactly what you are doing, expressing negative behavior..

Answer #31

Christianity is based around pagan religions, whether you know it or not. The early Christians created a similarity with other religions so the none Christians would accept and adopt Christianity. And to this day still follow some of the pagan dogma. Such as Christmas and Easter. There are more.

Answer #32

You can be whatever you want to be in your spirituality. Dont be swayed by other peoples opinions. I am Wiccan which is a strand of Pagan and i have been tried to be converted many times over. It is what is in your heart that matters. Blessed be <3
