Bird Questions ( budgie, canary, parakeet)

I have been looking at birds for a while now and as my birthday is coming up I thought that it would be a good idea to start begging the parents. I have a high chest of draws which I would keep the cage on as I know they like to be high, also I have a small dog ( jack russel crossed with staffy ) and I wasnt sure if this would be a problem, she doesnt spend any time in my room but knowing the bird is in there it might attract her, but keeping the door shut and being so high up I thought this may be ok. Another problem is which one to get, at first I wanted a yellow canary as I heard they sing when trained and I like to sing in the morning getting ready and listen to a lot of music so I thought this would be nice but then with them getting lonely I wondered about getting another bird to go with it, a green budgie.. but how would I do this buy them both at the same time so they bond or one after another? also would a canary and a budgie be okay in the same cage ? also, altho this sounds stupid I was thinking maybe a male budgie and a female canary, I dont want them to breed so is it possible they can as I dont no much about there breeding and wether its possible for a budgie to breed with a canary?.. thanks a lot,, any tips are wanted also :) x

Answer #1

they probably will breed just because theyre opposites, it makes no difference if its a black lab or a jack russel, either way they’ll mount a coot little dalmation… another thing about dogs I hope will relate, if you get them at an early age together they are less likely to fight

Actually cannaries sing on their own accored…Males usually…. canarries never shut up lol mind didnt lol…..as for pairing them up pair it with a female….u dont need to put a nesting box just let her lay on the floor pic up the eggs and throw them out….I used to have 2 cinnoman canaries…male and female also bro and sis…so i could not let them hatch their eggs even if i wanted too….

Cannaries are ORNAMENTAL birds, they just stay in their cage and sing and look pretty, whist bugies cockatiels Green cheek conures and up are companion birds IF HANDRAISED AND HANDTAMED….

I have had 2 cockatiels and now have moved on to biger birds called ALEXANDRINES (see my DP ) if u want a bird to sit on tour shoulder or just to stay near u, i recomend cockatiels, if u want something more playful I recomend a Green Cheek Counre or a Sun Conure or even an Alexandrine or Indian ring neck….

Personaly i like to place same spicies of birds with eachother…..because they are more likely to get along….eg 2 cannaries, 2 bugies 2 cockatiels etc…..
