a parakeet is a bird, but most people prefer to them as budgies. yes I do have 2 parakeets. and keets are the same thing as parakeets. they are really small birds. smaller than most birds for example: makaws, indian rednecks, owls, hawks, and normal birds outside.hope I helped… :]

The UK/Australian etc equivalent is budgie, or budgerigar - although that is actually one type of ‘parakeet’, botanically speaking.
