Why does my Betta Fish keep taking in diffrent peices of fish food and then spitting each one of them out?

I got him today at Petsmart. I had a Betta 8 years ago…. if I remember right….. they dont spit their food out unless their sick? I dont know…

i think its because the amount of air in it. when its in water slowly water is absorbed and the fish is taking the pieces are soft and with less air in it.

My beta does thee same thing, &’nd its because its too soften the food for him to swallow easily.

oh. I had a betta one time for 8 years! The only reason my family thinks he lived that long is because all of us used to poke at the fish tank and our betta would flare up and we think he only lived that long for that reason. lol
