what type of fish can live in the tank with male beta fish?
WOW this whole page is VERY wrong! I am chaz, aquatics and reptile expert for petco with a great deal of experiance both personal and professional with all sorts of fish so let me put this subject to rest right now.
Bettas may be kept with any non-agressive TROPICAL fish that is not small enough to be eaten and doesnt resemble the betta (other anabantids like gouramis and also killiefish for some reason). Note that goldfish are NOT tropical fish, they introduce toxic levels of amonia and nitrate to the tank and cannot be safely kept with anything but other goldfish and pond fishes like carp. mollies, platies, swordtails, and danios are some of the best choices for tank mates. also most any bottom fish will be tolerated as bettas prefer to stay near the surface, corys are an excelent choice. Barbs are another fish to avoid as they are notorious fin nippers and will harass anything with large pretty fins. Finally, female bettas, while not as pretty as males, are not aggressive and may be kept in groups or with other community fish. to keep females with males you must devide them and introduce them slowly. wait for the male to build the bubble nest and the female to become fertile (swolen with eggs) and assume a head down position. once breeding is completed remove the female so she can rest. it may be possible to keep a male with several females (5 or more) in a 10 gallon tank with plenty of hiding places.
other tank mates may be attempted, this is just the starting point. you will have to test them out and see how your fish react to one another. the examples given are tried and true though and provide hobbyist with plenty of options for color and variety.
nothing. A beta fish need to be alone. And a beta don't need bubbles. So you can put it in a big jar. In here, Indonesia, many peoples sale fishes, beta fishes by jar and put a paper between the jars or they will ahve a fight. Beta need to be alone.
first of all you can have other fish with a male batte: fancy tail, lion head goldfish of any breed. just do not put two males together, also you can have two females and one male but have a good hideaway for the females. I hope this helps you out
beta fishes are fighting fishes. if you put another fish with it it will fight it and most likely kill it. something fun to do with beta fishes so they can play though is put a mirror up beside its bowl and it will try to fight itself.
Sorry to say but most of these people are wrong Male betas can be placed in a tank with African frogs, white shrimp, normies, and female betas can be in the tank with male betas as long as they are ready to breed...
I dont think they can even live with a female, my aunt had two and one ripped the other one apart... if you want other fish in the tank, put up a screen... and make sure the fish cant get to each other
I had a male betta live at peace with 4 zebra danios 4 platys and a chinese algea eater so most of you people are very wrong when you say they cant live with any other fish
I've had my betta living in peace with my guppies for many years.
how do you know that a beta is compatible with other fish?
Nothing I tried that and they killed each other Emma
