Answer #1

To clean a belly button piercing - as per a professional:

Get a good antibacterial liquid soap, such as DIal, when you are in the shower apply a little soap to your fingers and gently apply it to your belly button ring. Wash, again, gently, and run the ring in and out a couple of times. With the water running on the ring, again run it in and out. Make sure you get all the soap off. After you get out of the shower, apply a SINGLE antibiotic ointment. DO NOT use Neosporin or a triple antibiotic ointment, it is to strong and will cause an irritation. Apply a small amount and work the ring back and forth. Do this a couple of times a day.

If you have any kind of discharge, especially if it is yellow, then you more than likely are developing an infection.

It’s highly likely you will get an infection if you pierced it yourself.

If you used a HOLLOW needle made for piercing, and you used surgical steel jewelry, just clean the area well in the morning and at night, and make sure you dry it carefully with a paper towel. *Do not overclean, because this will irritate it.

Don’t rotate the jewelry, and don’t touch it–even if you think your hands are clean, they aren’t, and you’ll put bacteria into the wound.

Go to Hot Topic or a piercing store and buy H2Ocean, the spray, not the lotion. Follow the directions on there.

DO NOT PUT ANY LOTION, VASELINE, OR NEOSPORIN ON IT. All of those are bad for piercings because they do not allow oxygen into the wound.

If you used a sewing needle, a safety pin, or anything else BESIDES a hollow piercing needle, FunMail me and I’ll help you out further.

It probably won’t get infected unless whatever you used to pierce it with wasn’t sterile. I don’t know the signs of an infection, but you could look it up.

Answer #4

its more likley to get infected and have longer healing time because you did it yourself peircing is a lot more than just putting a hole through your skin next time save up 50 bucks and get it done profesionally but for now signs to look out for are change of colour and constant pain (that doesnt go away withing 3 days) if this happens, go to a doctor and get it taken out also its liekly to have a small crust later on, thats part of the healing process so if you get it dont pick at it, that will go away in about 2-3 months
